What is OneDrive?
OneDrive is Microsoft’s cloud storage software. The cloud is part of Microsoft 365, but you can also buy OneDrive on its own if you don’t need the other features.
Microsoft offers multiple tiers of OneDrive, so you can get up to 6TB of storage with a customized plan. Commercial plans offer 1 TB of storage, but one plan offers unlimited storage.

How do you get to?

- Search for OneDrive to find this application.
- Select OneDrive from the list to open it.
- Use your Microsoft account details to sign in.
Once you are in OneDrive, you can save any files you have there. You can customize it to your needs and has plenty of storage space.
You can also sign in to OneDrive from the OneDrive website, and you can use your favorite browser. Once you are on the OneDrive page, sign in with your Microsoft account.
You can then access your cloud storage and manage your files and other functions. However, you should also use a desktop application so that you can easily add files from your computer and use the website later.
On mobile phone

After you save the file, you can navigate to OneDrive and select the desired folder, if you are using it. There you can see your document.
With existing file
If you want to add files to OneDrive after you set it up, you don’t need to create new files. You can find files that are on your computer and copy or move them to the cloud.
First, open OneDrive on your computer. You can then create all the folders in which you want to organize your files.
Next, open File Manager and browse for the files you want to move to OneDrive. Select the file you want to move and drag it to the cloud storage. You can also copy files if you want to keep them on your computer and move a copy to OneDrive.
How to find information in OneDrive
Once you start using OneDrive, you’ll find that you’ve collected a lot of information there. If you have one of the high-volume storage plans, you may have a lot of files and it can be hard to find what you need.
If you are looking for a specific document, you can use OneDrive’s search feature to find it. At the top you will see the search function. Then type in the field what you want to find.
Depending on how you’ve organized your OneDrive, you may have other options. If you use folders for different things, you can navigate to the folder you want. You can then refine your search and use the search function if you still can’t find anything.
Labels are another great way to organize and retrieve information. You can use tags to search for specific file types. If you’re looking for an image, OneDrive can even tag it, which it recognizes to help you.

Change the permissions so that the recipient can view the document. You can then enter the recipient’s email address, add a message and send it.
Restore old files
You have already deleted an old file or made a change, but you wanted to get it back? With OneDrive, you don’t have to worry about that.
To do this, go to the OneDrive website, where you can restore deleted files or find an older version. To find deleted files, go to the Recycle Bin.
Note that Microsoft does not keep old files forever. Depending on your account, you have 30 to 90 days to retrieve the file. When you find what you need, you can select the file and click Restore.
If you want to restore an old version of an existing file, you can go to the web application and search for the file you want. Right-click and select Version History. This way you can find the version you want to restore.
